Today two teams went into downtown LA to experience what it is like to be on the streets looking for resources. Teams were given the option of being a person just released from prison, a single mother or an immigrant family. Each person was given 4 dollars for food and each group had assignments like looking for housing, employment, etc. The activity gave them insight and empathy into others’ experiences.
Another team supported a youth program near Compton called the Lighthouse Community Center by assisting in fun activities with the kids.
Teams returned to the Salvation Army sites to continue their week-long commitment to VBS and structured activities with the local children.
We finished by eating in ethnic restaurants and having debrief discussions in parks and back at the church.
Please keep praying for God to work through us all!
