More than 50 high school youth and adults descended on Trinity Center Walnut Creek where they serve people who are homeless and those experiencing poverty in Contra Costa County. The center is non-residential, but people can come there to take showers, use the location as their mailing address, get employment assistance, etc.
The day (Saturday, March 19th) started at LOPC with an introduction from Keris and Allison about Trinity Center and we were separated into groups based on what we were going to do at the Center. We then got into the cars and headed to the Center.
Once we got there, Carol Lombard, the Operations Manager & Volunteer Manager talked to us about the Center and what they do.

Following that, Jessie Jones, Member Advocate at the Center shared his testimony. We were all very touched at his life transitions – from being a criminal to a homeless person to a dad and a pastor! He ended his testimony with a beautiful prayer.
We then got into our individual service groups – Weeding, Planting Flowers, Cleaning toilets, Cleaning Doors & Windows, Breaking old chairs, and other small projects.
After we were done with our service, we headed back to LOPC, but not before we were thanked profusely for our service.
Once at the Church, we had lunch and debrief, and also watched a video about normal people who end up without their home and how they cope with it. All in all, it was a great day of learning and service.
