Hey! I am Kim Angle the new Interim Associate Youth Director! I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, which unfortunately makes me a Chicago Cubs fan. I know they will win at least one World Series before I die!
I went to school at North Park University in Chicago, where I studied Youth Ministry. After I graduated from NPU, I spent the last year in Houston, Texas working with Clear Lake Presbyterian Church as the Student Ministries Intern. This is where I bought my first pair of Cowgirl boots! I have grown up loving Country music and while living in Texas, it was socially acceptable to wear boots anywhere. I no longer care what is “socially acceptable” so you will probably find me wearing my boots around here! I know that is not super normal. I’m okay with that.
When I was in Jr. High, we had a student day at our youth group and I got to speak during our service. I grew up at a mega church so this was a group of probably 400 students. After the service my youth pastor came up to me and told me that I should come take his job. I took him seriously. Up until my sophomore year in college I truly thought I was going to take his job. His words and the words of many other people God put in my life directed me to a career in youth ministry and eventually here to LOPC. I love working with youth ministry because it is a place where I can walk with students through some of their more difficult transitions in the course of their lives. I love to talk to students and give advice or just be there to listen. And let’s face it, Youth ministry is fun! I am super competitive, so I will win in Dodgeball every time! You want to be on my team!
An interesting fact about me is that I love Coffee shops. I really enjoy every part of them. I love the smell that overwhelms you when you walk in the door, the people quietly enjoying a cup of coffee while getting their work done or talking to a friend, the colors, and especially the taste of the Vanilla Latte or Chai Tea!–
