This summer Monument Crisis Center is addressing a need that has become apparent in their clients in the past several years. Most of MCC’s clients are at risk families who experience added food insecurity in the summer as children are home and unable to participate in free or discounted lunch programs at school. As a result, MCC will be collecting Summer Food Boxes again this summer. This program will offer clients an additional food box to bridge the gap, much like the holiday food box program LOPC participates in during Christmas.
The program is designed to bring attention to the issue of food insecurity and help encourage donations during the summer when food avenues are scarcer. Go to LOPC.org/ The Latest to find a Summer Food Box list. Pick up a box at the LOPC office beginning May 12th and purchase the desired items. Completed boxes should be taken directly to the Monument Crisis Center (1900 Market Street, Concord) during June and July at the specified drop-off times listed on MCC flyer.
