A Little About LOPC
What time is Sunday worship?
What kind of music will I hear?
You will hear a wide variety of styles through an equally wide variety of instruments and groups. The church has a strong commitment to traditional hymns and classical music. However, there is an equally strong commitment to more contemporary styles. We refer to this as a “blended approach.”
When and how is Communion celebrated?
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month. Communion is the Lord’s feast and anyone who considers themselves a part of the Christian family of faith is welcome to participate. We celebrate communion with bread and grape juice and as we continue worshipping at home we invite you to have these elements on hand to participate in the celebration. Should you need assistance obtaining bread and grape juice during the quarantine, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What about my kids?
Even though the pandemic has temporarily closed our doors, LOPC is committed to welcoming children and youth as full members of the community. As we begin the long process of re-opening, check back to see what new offerings we have in store. While we’re still in Shelter-in-Place, here’s how your kids can get to know us and stay involved:
Children’s Ministry (birth – 4th grade)
The Children’s Ministry Blog: Content designed to capture your kids’ attention and help them articulate what they are feeling is posted here three times a week. New content includes the weekly Children’s Message every Monday, a new Spiritual Practice every Wednesday, and something fun to watch every Friday.
Coffee & Coloring: Connect with our Children’s Ministry staff for a one-on-one virtual coffee date between us and your family! These fifteen minute dates help us care for your kids and listen to what’s going on in their lives. Email Ryan at ryan@LOPC.org for a link to the Sign-up Genius to schedule your coffee & coloring date, whether it’s once or every week.
Lunchtime Prayer. On Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30 am, we have a short virtual prayer time where anyone and everyone is invited to log on, say hi, and then pray together before lunch. This rhythm helps grounds kids in their day and gives them a chance to pray for some of the big questions they have. Email Ryan at ryan@LOPC.org for the links to the Zoom meetings.

Youth Ministry (5th-12th Grade)
Weekly Youth Group Zoom Calls: The purpose of these calls is to be a place of encouragement & connection as we navigate this season together of SIP from a distance! We want to give the youth a great addition to their day, and save the evening for your family. For access to the calls, email either Keris Dahlkamp email@example.com (high school & alumni) or Allison Kunz firstname.lastname@example.org (5th-8th grade).
YOW Zoom Call (5th-8th grade) – Wednesdays, 4-5pm.
BTW Zoom Call (high school) – Sundays, 11am-12pm.
Alumni Zoom Call (post high school) – Mondays, 4-5pm.
The youth advisors will also be reaching out to their respective small groups. If you think your student would especially like to receive an introductory call from staff & advisors for any reason, please email Keris or Allison to let us know!

Right now, we’re all worshipping from our homes as we continue to shelter in place. Feel free to wear your pajamas or whatever you’re comfortable in. You do you!
