Stories Matter: the love does Service Project

Recently, the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC) launched a new service opportunity called “Love Does Day” which kicked off at CCIH’s Garden Park Apartments (GPA). The enthusiastic and committed LOPC volunteers built planter boxes and benches, painted administrative offices, added new bark dust to well-worn paths, and organized the Youth Enrichment Center Library – all of which contributes to providing a calm and nurturing environment for GPA families.

The children are looking forward to planting flowers that can be picked from the raised beds. The new benches and freshly planted “Triangle of Tranquility” garden area offers moments of peace. The reorganized library in the Youth Enrichment Center allows support staff to help direct children to books at the appropriate reading level. We appreciate the joy and dedication the LOPC volunteers offered to seeing all these projects through completion. Through their commitment they also show our families that they have the support of a whole community to help them rise above their challenges. Thank you!
