One of the most important things that we can do as Christians is to demonstrate God’s love for the world, and our community. Love Does affirms that our faith is active, and that we can accomplish great things together. It matters that we are out in our communities doing things that make an impact, to remind others that we love them.

Every year low-income students struggle to purchase the necessary supplies to begin school prepared.  The Monument Crisis Center is committed to providing a backpack for those students that would otherwise not have one. You can help by choosing to fill a backpack for either an Elementary or High School student.  All the contents are listed below.  Please drop-off your filled backpack to the barrel in the Ministry offices from July 1-July 17.

Backpack Supply List (Kindergarten – 5th grade)

  • 1- New Backpack (no solid RED or BLUE)
  • 2 – Spiral Notebooks (wide rule)
  • 1-Package of Dry Erase Markers
  • 1- Large Eraser
  • 1- 12” Ruler
  • 1- Pencil Sharpener
  • 1- Box of Crayons (24 count)
  • 1- Box of Colored Pencils
  • 2- Pocket Folders
  • 1-Box Colored Markers-Wide Tip
  • 2- Large size Glue Sticks

Place all supplies in a Ziploc Bag

  • 1-New Sturdy Backpack (no solid RED or BLUE)
  • 1-New Binder: 1 & 1/2”
  • 1-Package of College Rule paper
  • 1-Package of Index Dividers
  • 2- Spiral Notebooks (college rule)
  • 1- Package of #2 Mechanical Pencils
  • 2- Pocket Folders
  • 2-Highlighters
  • 1- 12” Ruler
  • 1- Pack of Pens (Blue or Black)
  • 1- Box of colored pencils
  • 1-Box of fine tip-colored markers (No permanent or Sharpies)
  • 1-pack of 3 x 3 post-It notes

Place all supplies in a Ziploc Bag


June 26 - LOPC Food Bank Workday

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Join others as we work together at one of the largest food banks in the nation, the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano Counties.  You will help sort and package food into boxes to be distributed at various sites throughout Contra Costa and Solano counties.  Please note that mask wearing is mandatory and social distancing guidelines will be adhered to.  You will be met by LOPC Leader Sandy Ducey.

July 9th - LOPC Habitat for Humanity Build Day!

  • DATE: Saturday, July 9th
  • LOCATION: Esperanza Place – 1250 Las Juntas Way, Walnut Creek, CA
  • TIME:  8:30am- 4pm
  • AGE: 16 years and older welcome
  • Group size: 15 Volunteers

Join other LOPC members at the site of Esperanza Place, a mixed-income development of affordable townhomes located next to Pleasant Hill Bart.  The project has recently broken ground and needs volunteers to help make this dream a reality.

 No Experience Necessary! The group of dedicated Habitat staff, amazing AmeriCorps Crew Leaders, and fellow Habitat volunteers will teach you all you need to know. Whether you have never picked up a hammer, are and experienced tradesperson, or fall somewhere in between, sign up to volunteer with us to learn new skills, have fun, and support affordable housing!

Wear work clothes and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Bring a lunch and a refillable water bottle. Any necessary tools, safety equipment, and training are provided on your volunteer day.
