Virtual Vacation Bible Camp
At Vacation Bible Camp, we explore God’s goodness and learn how to ask Big Questions in order to grow into a faith that powers kids through this life. Camp is where kids experience the love of God, grow in the virtues of kindness, justice, and mercy, and learn to change the world around them by being the hands, feet, and heart of God. And in the midst of the global pandemic, we did camp virtually!
We know our world isn’t perfect, and our kids do, too. Our theme, Asking the Big Questions, teaches kids that, not only is it okay to ask questions about why the world is the way it is, but that those questions can bring us closer to God and closer to each other. During our Large Group videos, kids hear in a kid-friendly way a Big Question and a Bible story that helps get us closer to an answer. Then, our Spiritual Practices give kids tools to grapple both with the daily Big Question and with the questions that they might have themselves. Altogether, the program helps kids navigate a broken world by remembering that God loves everyone, no matter what.
Below, we’ve linked to the curriculum, as well as the YouTube videos that will help guide you through. And if you have any questions, Big or small, contact Director of Children’s Ministry Ryan Timpte at ryan@LOPC.org or Associate Director of Children’s Ministry Lori Robinson at Lori@LOPC.org – we’d love to talk with you and your kids.
Curriculum: Parent Letter & Small Group Guide
The Parent Page gives families an overview of the program and a short supply list for the Spiritual Practices each day. This document is a good quick-reference tool. You can download the Parent Page here: VVBC 2020 SP Parent Page
The Small Group Guide provides a more in-depth way of digging into the material presented in Large Group. The guide leads you through a centering activity, a discussion of the day’s Bible story, and a lesson on the spiritual practice. This document is best used in conjunction with the Large Group videos, and it will give your kids a richer experience all the way around.
