Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings reflects the central act of any Christian community: the worship of the God who created us, redeemed us, and sustains us. We recognize that families approach worship in many different ways, and we have created a number of entry points for you as your family makes a weekly connection with God.
What to Expect When You Arrive on Sunday
(Please return soon for our brand-new Sunday morning introduction video!)
We know that visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-wracking, especially with children – that’s why we are creating a video to give you a taste of what to expect at LOPC. Please click here to see a map of the LOPC campus.
When you arrive on campus, first visit our Hospitality Kiosks on the plaza in front of the Christian Life Center. The Kiosks are located under the “Children and Youth” sign to the left of the Sanctuary. Our Hospitality Team will help you register your child, get them a name tag, direct you where to drop them off, and answer any questions you might have.
Sunday Morning Opportunities for Kids
Our primary program for children on Sunday mornings is The Garden, our worship experience for children from three months old to 4th grade, which runs concurrently with the worship service in the Sanctuary at both 9:00 am and 11:00 am. In The Garden, your child will have a chance to learn how to articulate their faith with other kids just like them. They will meet trained and background-checked volunteers and staff who are there to walk with them on their faith journey. They will encounter the living God through our monthly virtue and the Bible stories that put that virtue into practice. For more information about our version of “Sunday school,” please visit our page about The Garden.
Children are always welcome in the Sanctuary, so if your child wants to worship with you, know that our congregation loves and welcomes them. There is a Family Room in the rear of the Sanctuary, to the left as you enter the first set of doors, with windows into the Sanctuary, speakers, and a restroom so that you and your child can participate in a semi-private setting, if you wish. There are also video feeds of the service in the Welcome Center, the building to the right of the Sanctuary, and in the lobby of the Christian Life Center, to the left of the Sanctuary.
However your family comes on Sunday, know that we welcome you and are glad you are here. It’s not important how you dress, or what time you arrive, or what happened during your week. Like Jesus tells us in Mark 10, we know that the kingdom of God belongs to those who become like children – so having your child in our midst is a blessing, no matter what!
