Faith ‘n Fun on Fridays

The Care and Senior Ministry teams host a monthly presentation on various topics throughout the year. Join any or all on Zoom until protocols allow for in-person gatherings.

Friday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m.
Speaker: Tom Scovel

Title: Who are “we”? Who are “they”?: Citizenship, Nationality, Ethnicity, and Race

These four terms are often used in various combinations as synonyms, and thus confound already confusing and contentious concepts. Based on my personal experiences growing up as well as working and living in different multicultural communities, I believe these classifications can and should be kept separate. My ideas however are a work in progress, and so I invite you to hear me out and help shape the ideas and illustrations I share so all of us can obtain a clearer understanding of our changing world.

Register below by 3pm on 10/7 to receive the zoom link. Emails will be sent the afternoon before the event.

S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity” Study Group (7-weeks)

The book brings together C. S. Lewis’s legendary broadcast talks of the war years, talks in which he set out simply to ‘explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.’ Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christian denominations, Lewis provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith.”
