Vision
We seek to provide music that enables prayer, contemplation, proclamation, joy, and transcendence, underscores worship scriptures and themes, and strengthens a sense of community as a Body of Christ. Towards these ends, we continue to follow the recommendations of the Worship Task Force of 2001:
- Support our flourishing choral ensembles, promoting classical and non-traditional musical literature with fine craftsmanship and passion
- Present a variety of styles in ways that engage all generations
- Intentionally teach all generations both traditional hymns and non-traditional liturgical music
- Intentionally offer multi-generational musical activity in worship
The Music Ministry Covenant
We, the members of Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church Music Ministry, offer our time and talents in support of the vision and goals for music in worship, and for the Glory of God.
We endeavor always to build up the ministry as a caring community, putting the needs of the group before the individual. We strive always to support, nurture, and uplift the congregation through leadership in worship.
Therefore, in rehearsal and worship, we covenant to:
- Leave our worries and concerns of the day at the door
- Follow musical direction wholeheartedly
- Arrive punctually and attend and practice regularly
- Sing/play with a teachable spirit, seeking constantly to grow and develop
- Support and encourage one another in love
