Emmaus Walk Saturday, April 21 9:45 AM until 12 noon
This experience integrates personal introspection, contemplation and fellowship. Participants reflect on where/how they find God in their personal lives as well as on the "topography" of their personal spiritual journey.
The Walk will begin with a silent 20 - 30 minute stroll on a gravel road arriving to a picnic area with shade, tables and clean "out buildings." Upon arrival to the retreat site, participants reflect on two questions in a written journal. After silent reflection, participants are called to a brief Taize worship by guitar music. After the worship, participants walk with a companion back to the originating site. Each individual shares with their companion insights gained from the experience.
The Emmaus Walk begins at the West End of Briones Regional Park at Bear Creek Staging Area - the gathering location is the Newt Hollow Picnic area. The short, flat trail we take off the road to the retreat site can be very muddy so wear comfortable shoes you don't mind getting dirty! The walk WILL NOT take place if it is RAINING!
Bring water, appropriate walking shoes, and a notebook/pen. Feel free to bring a sack lunch for an optional informal/social picnic back at the originating picnic site. Parking inside the park costs $3. Participants have the option of parking on Bear Creek Road just outside the park entrance for free and walking in about 1/4 mile to the Newt Hollow Picnic area.
