Connect with Others!

Are you looking for Christian Fellowship? Try joining a FISH Group, and be sure to attend Second Sunday Singles and 4th Sunday Dinners regularly!

FISH Groups (Friendship in the Spirit, Fellowship in the Home)

This small group ministry is for people seeking a deeper connection with others in the LOPC community. A FISH group consists of 6 - 10 adults who are grouped according to a series of preferences (i.e. age, meeting place) and interests (i.e. Bible study, social activities).

FISH groups meet regularly, and depending on the group's preference, events can be social, service-oriented, spiritual or study-based. While this is primarily an adult ministry, the group can decide on the inclusion of children at times. Members often discover that being part of a FISH group allows them to form lasting bonds and a caring group of friends.

How are groups formed?

Complete the FISH Group Registration Form and indicate your preferences which enable a FISH Ministry team to place you with other adults who share similar interests and objectives. An initial commitment of six months is encouraged, in order to give the FISH Group time to get to know one another.

What can I expect from a FISH group?

A FISH group can mean different things to different people. An extended family or group of friends to share holidays and family celebrations, milestones and rites of passage, the joys and sorrows of everyday life, faith journeys, Bible study, interests and hobbies. Groups meet in places of their choosing, and a successful group requires time, patience, and enthusiasm from its members.

People with young children especially appreciate adult-only gatherings to develop friendships without the distractions and pressures of children. At times, children’s activities can be planned that bring your family together with others for times of sharing, learning, and understanding diversity through play.

Belonging to a FISH group is a process rather than a finished product. Shared experiences help grow feelings of commitment to and care for one another. Time, patience, and openness to diversity of personalities, points of view, and life styles create mutual love and understanding.
