| Elmhurst Presbyterian Church
Elmhurst is a sister church of LOPC, and for many years LOPC has worked with Elmhurst in their outreach to the East Oakland community. This small church works hard to be a beacon of light for the neighborhood around them. They have sponsored Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, organized after school programs, sponsored Head Start programs, held Bible study groups and Vacation Bible School, and a food pantry.
Volunteer Opportunities include organization of holiday food drives, back-to-school supplies, Christmas Adopt-a-family, support of Vacation Bible School and serving at the food pantry on Saturday mornings.
This Easter we are asking church members to consider buying a $20 Family Easter Dinner for a family in need or making a cash donation to the Elmhurst Food Pantry. Our LOPC-Elmhurst Committee will then seek to maximize its buying power by buying in bulk instead of providing retail grocery store gift cards. However, food donations will be accepted from the Pantry wish list and include the following; dry & hot cereal, pampers and canned vegetables. Frozen food is presently not being accepted.
