All ages, all skill levels, many music types, many levels of time committment:
There's a place for you and your family in the LOPC Music Ministry.
All music activites are open to non-church members.

Time Commitment

Sunbeams
(Children, Pre-K and K)
Learn basic vocal techniques and rudimentary music skills, as well as begin to understand the importance of choral music in church through regular participation in Sunday worship. Children sing, play instruments, act Bible stories and participate in craft projects.
  
Interest in singing. More details in Children's Ministry.
 
  
Rehearses weekly, Mondays or Tuesdays at 2:15 - 3 p.m., September - June. The choir will sing in the sanctuary during worship services several times during the year.
God's Groove
(Children, Pre-K and K)
Kids explore Christian themes through music and movement, accompanied by guitar. Registration is not necessary – just come and join in the fun!

Gathers weekly Sunday mornings between the Services, 10:15 - 10:30 a.m., September - June. God’s Groove will join with Sunbeams to sing in worship several times during the year.
Psalmsters
(Children, Grades 1-3)
A choir structured to combine music education with spiritual growth. Psalmsters will develop their vocal and music reading skills, as well as learn to understand the leadership role music plays in worship. Emphasis is on the importance of teamwork.

Rehearses weekly Sunday mornings between the Services, 10:10 - 10:50 a.m., September - June. The choir will sing in the sanctuary during worship services several times during the year.
   
Joyful Noise
(Children, Grades 4-8)
Children will learn the basics of reading music, proper singing techniques, music theory and history, the role of music leadership in worship and music to sing in worship services. The music will be sacred, and Christian education and spiritual formation are included in this program.

High School Choir
(Youth, Grades 9-12)
15 member group prepares special music for worship.

Interest in singing,
Beginning to Advanced singers.

Rehearses weekly on Thursday nights, 6:15 - 6:55 p.m. The choir will sing in the sanctuary during worship services several times during the year.

Chancel Choir
(Adult, Youth)
35-40 voice, mostly SATB classical or traditional music (traditional anthems, motets, spirituals, portions of Multi-movement works, and occasionally gospel arrangements), usually accompanied by organ or piano.  

  
Choral experience required (ability to blend, read music, follow direction, and keep up with quick rehearsal pace). Ability to learn music outside of rehearsal (practice materials sometimes provided online and on CD).
Beginning to Advanced singers.
  

  
Rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7 - 9 p.m.; sings in worship one to two Sundays a month, (usually the 1st and 2nd and/or 4th Sundays). Singers are encouraged but not required to sing with Festival, Women's, and Men's choirs.

Women's and Men's Choirs
(Adult, Youth)
~30 voice each choir, repertoire similar to Chancel Choir, meets for special projects about twice a year. 
     

Choral experience required (ability to blend, read music, follow direction, and keep up with quick rehearsal pace). Ability to learn music outside of rehearsal (practice materials sometimes provided online and on CD). Beginning to Advanced singers.

Rehearses in Room 205 on Thursday, 7 - 8 p.m., 3 weeks prior to performance in worship. Childcare available on request.

Chamber Singers
(Adult, Youth)
Auditioned, 16 voice, mostly a cappella music with an early music focus.
  

  
Audition. Sight reading required. Ability to learn music outside of rehearsal. Intermediate to Advanced singers.
  

  
Rehearses weekly on Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.; sings in worship one Sunday a month, usually the 3rd or 4th Sunday. Childcare available upon request.

Gospel Choir
(Adult, Youth, Children)
45 voice, intergenerational ensemble that includes LOPC and community singers. Learns music by ear (no sight reading required) in two rehearsals before a worship performance. Usually accompanied by piano, bass, and drums. 

  
Ability to learn music and sing notes and rhythms accurately. No previous music experience required. Beginning to Advanced singers.
  
Rehearses two consecutive Tuesdays, 7:30 - 8:45 p.m., 2 weeks before singing in worship, about one Sunday every two months.
Festival Choir
(Adult, Youth)
Seasonal, 60-100 voice, comprised of all LOPC choirs, plus additional singers from the community. Perform major choral/orchestral works in a worship setting.
  
  
Sight reading preferred, not required. Ability to learn music outside of rehearsal (practice materials provided online and on CD). Beginning to Advanced singers.

  
Rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. for 6 - 8 weeks before major performances (Christmas and Holy Week, with opportunities for other performances in worship). Childcare available on request.

Noteables
(Senior Adult)
Seniors who come together for the joy of singing to share varied music programs with the community. 
  
Ability to learn music and sing notes and rhythms accurately. Beginning to Advanced singers.
  
Rehearses weekly on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Does not perform on Sundays but has about 4 performances a year.
Chancel Handbell Choir
(Adults, Youth)
Auditioned, 15 member group that provides special music each month. 
  
Audition. Sight reading required. Previous experience with handbells preferred, not required.
  
Rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 6 - 8 p.m. Rings one Sunday a month.
