Confirmation
Confirmation is the process by which our youth learn about what it means to be in a relationship with Jesus Christ as a member of the church. Confirmation classes are open to all high school students, with additional materials and responsibilities for those wishing to be confirmed as a member of the Body of Christ at LOPC.
Confirmation Class Schedule
Sunday, October 19, is our Parent/Youth Informational Meeting in Room 201 of the CLC.
Our program runs from October to May, with a Faith Statement Retreat . Each missed class session must be made up before the Faith Statement Retreat.
Statement of Faith
Confirmands will write a Statement of Faith, expressing their understanding and interpretation of these concepts, ultimately answering the question 'Do you profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?'
That's a pretty big question, so we have to unpack what the meaning of those words and one's own response to that question. Please hold our confirmands, their mentors and our pastors and youth leaders in prayer as we come alongside the youth of our church in discerning these next steps of their faith journey.
Students are encouraged to involve creative expressions of elements of their faith journey, topics we've covered and questions they may have along with their main written statement of faith.
Confirmation Mentors
As we prepare to welcome the newest members of our church family, it is important and beneficial to come alongside these young men and women of faith and wonder, discern, pray, share and discover together what it means for each of us to pursue God in our lives.
We pair each student with a member of LOPC, who is asked to attend three Confirmation classes with the student and then to meet afterwards to reflect on the topic, each person's questions and experiences relative to the given aspect of our faith lives, and to help ask the good questions that we have in response to the ways in which God calls us to meet Him in our minds and hearts.
