Music is an essential element in the spiritual formation of children. Our choir program for Children and Youth provides spiritual nurturing for children in Pre-K through 8th grade by integrating choral music and worship leadership in the Christian tradition. Participation in choir is free and open to everyone in the community.

Cantemus Choir for 5th - 8th Grade
Cantemus is for vocalists who are ready to sing harmony and are interested in experiencing a blend of classical choral literature and contemporary works. LOPC Composer-in-Residence Greg Murai often writes original arrangements and compositions for this group. Singers learn microphone technique, how to work with a band and orchestra, and periodically collaborate with the adult choirs. Cantemus sings in Sunday worship services, at the LOPC Christmas Concerts, on Christmas Eve, in concert at St. Mary's College and at festivals. A creative and supportive rehearsal environment encourages musicians to use their gifts to their full potential. Cantemus meets prior to the 5th-8th grade Fuse and YOW activities creating a block of spiritual development and fellowship opportunities to give this age group a variety of means to connect with the Spirit. The expectation is that singers will make a reliable commitment to weekly rehearsals throughout the program year.
