Season of Care Classes
The Congregational Care Ministry teams offer the following four classes to engage you as you live out your faith by caring for others and for yourself. Appropriate caring is neither easy nor obvious. These classes offer educational and spiritual resources to nurture your spirit and increase your ability to provide nurturing care to others. In addition to the classes, a Flu Clinic is scheduled.
Caring for the Caregiver
Learn how to care for others without guilt by opening yourself to nurturing care and by using your experiences to grow spiritually. Led by Barbara Whittingham and the Rev. Gerald Chinen
You, too, can be a Spiritual Caregiver
Learn how to introduce prayer and scripture to others as you visit family, friends, the frail elderly, or isolated people hungry for company. Led by the Rev. Gerald Chinen
Coping with Grief
Loss of a loved one through death or divorce, the loss of a job, a friend or good health all require life adjustments. Learn to cope with and survive the losses in your life. Led by Stephen Ministry leaders
Facing the Realities of Long-Term Care: Issues and Choices
Learn about available long-term care resources and the personal skills required to navigate such transitions. Led by Barbara Whittingham and a representative from the Contra Costa County Office of the Ombudsman
Completing the Circle of Life with Care and Dignity Being Rescheduled
Hospice staff and family representatives focus on the needs of individuals and families as they face the challenging times leading through the final stages of life. This is highly recommended for older persons, their family members, and anyone facing end-of-life issues for themselves or their loved ones. Advance reservation required. Led by physicians, nurses, chaplains, and family members and sponsored by Hospice of the East Bay
Flu Clinic October 28 (only) 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Fireside Room
Sutter Health Care Visiting Nurses will provide a flu clinic, assisted by nurses from the LOPC congregation. Take this opportunity to protect yourself for the upcoming flu season
