Deacon Ministry consists of LOPC members that have been elected by the Congregation to serve as beacons of care.  The following describes the Deacon teams that exist at LOPC.

Baby Quilts: deacons provide handmade quilts to welcome newborns of church members.

Barnabas Planning Team:  deacons provide handmade arrange and participate in visits to members who are homebound, hospitalized, or in various types of care facilities.

Communion: deacons faithfully prepare the elements each month and assist in serving Communion during worship services.

Home Communion:  home communion is served (usually three times per year) to members not able to attend worship services.  All ordained officers are invited to participate on a two person team.

Easter & Christmas Flowers:  the lilies that decorate the Sanctuary at Easter and the poinsettias that decorate it each Christmas are delivered to homebound members or those living in nearby assisted living or convalescent care facilities.

Helping Hands: deacons prepare and deliver food to persons recuperating from illness, those recently discharged from the hospital, new moms, grieving families, or anyone who might need a meal in a time of crisis.  Cooks are invited to stock the freezer by preparing a casserole, entrée, soup or dessert, and volunteers are needed to deliver the meals.

Memorial Receptions: deacons staff receptions following memorial services held at LOPC.  Help is needed in setting up, serving, cleaning up and baking cookies.

Friends Driving Friends: deacons arrange transportation for those unable to drive to LOPC on Sunday mornings.  If you have an empty backseat to share with someone in your area let a Deacon know.

Thursday Fellowship: deacons assist every Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. .  Help is needed to socialize with the seniors and serve lunch.
