Men at LOPC

These are several groups at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church created mostly for men.

Men’s Spiritual Journey Group

I have been actively exploring my spirituality for the past 10 years. This process got a significant lift when I participated with 13 other men in a 4 week course titled Man-festations of the Spirit. Spiritual Formation is defined as a process of becoming fully human, developing relationships with self, others and God.
The material used in this course was a self-contained monograph written specifically for men and based on Paul’s letter to the Galatians 5:22-23. The process included daily readings with questions for reflection taking about 20 minutes per day. The group meet in community weekly to discuss the material as one group followed by small group sessions. I found this format an excellent opportunity to be in community with other men to explore and nurture my spirituality, and to learn from others as they shared their journeys. Especially rewarding for me were the discussions regarding the contrast between the male image as portrayed in contemporary media and Paul’s message in Galatians.

The Men’s Spirituality Planning Group will be meeting in the near future to plan additional events for the men of LOPC.
